Christian was born and raised in Toronto, ON where he also completed his educational studies. Christian received a Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto with a Major in History and Minors in Philosophy and in Religion. After graduating, Christian began studying at Knox College where he completed a Master of Divinity, and is also where he met Maren. Although both were raised Presbyterian, Christian and Maren began serving with the Anglican Church in the Diocese of Fredericton where Christian became ordained and served two parishes in joint-ministry in rural New Brunswick. Christian and Maren moved to Calgary in Fall 2018, when Christian began serving in an interim capacity at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, before joining Grace in a similar role. Outside of work Christian enjoys spending time with daughter Asha, watching sports and spending time with loved ones. Opportunities for trips to the mountains – whether hiking, camping, or strolling around – are always enjoyed, as well as trips to the zoo.
Despite calling Calgary home, Maren still considers herself a Maritimer after being born and raised in rural Nova Scotia. She has worked extensively in camping, youth and children’s ministry and loves all the ways that play and creativity can deepen our faith. Maren also works part time as a music teacher with private voice and piano students, and with baby and toddler group classes. Maren tries her best to take advantage of having the Rocky Mountain wilderness in our back yard, and loves backpacking, hiking and camping. At home she loves to cook, watch anything comedy related, and play with her daughter, Asha!
