The stories of the later parts of Jesus' life start to hint at the danger ahead of him. In the reading from Luke, he is warned to leave town, as Herod is trying to kill him. Jesus responds with a metaphor of love - of how he'd wanted to gather God's people like a hen gathers her chicks under her wings.
